Path finder
Path Finder is a new product on the Belgian market that makes walking easier and prevents falls when persons with neurodegenerative disorders.
Path Finder combines visual technology with our natural neurological functions. The Path Finder provides a visual clue to help with unsteady and irregular steps. It is also very user friendly and easy to bring auxiliary straps to pull over the shoe.
At the end of last year the Path Finder got the EUROPEAN INNOVATION AWARD 2019.
How does it work?
The Path Finder projects a horizontal laser beam from the tip of the shoe. This gives a visual indication which makes the person inclined
to follow this line. We create, as it were, an external stimulus that makes the raft steps triggers and reduces the risk of falling. One of the possible symptoms of Parkinson’s disease is ‘Freezing of Gait (FoG)’. Various studies have shown that FoG is significantly was reduced thanks to the use of the Path Finder. Articles about the Path Finder can be found in the Journal of Neurology and the Journal of Movement Disorders.
